Sea Dogs Drop Two on Tuesday

Portland, Maine - The Binghamton offense combined for 18 runs and 21 hits en route to sweeping the Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field on Tuesday night, winning the completion of a suspended game 11-7 and game two 7-1 in seven innings.

The teams resumed Monday's suspended game tied 2-2 in the second inning and Portland quickly took a 4-2 lead on a two-run single by Oscar Tejeda (1-4, 3 RBI).  But Binghamton would respond quickly, batting around in the top of the third and plating five runs, just two of which were earned thanks to two Portland errors.

The Mets had strong performances in game one by Gavin Cecchini (1-4, 3 RBI, R, BB), Xorge Carrillo (2-4, 2 RBI), and Dustin Lawley (1-2, RBI, 3 R, BB).  Jantzen Witte (3-3, 2 RBI, R, 2 BB) and Mike Miller (3-5, 2 R) paced the Portland offense with three hits apiece.  Matt Koch (W, 1-1) was the winner for Binghamton, allowing four earned runs on six hits in four and two thirds, while Paul Sewald picked up his second save of the year, allowing just one hit in three scoreless innings to close out the game.  Jonathan Aro (L, 2-1) got the loss for Portland, allowing seven runs (four earned) over three innings of relief.

Game two was all Binghamton, as they struck for seven runs in the first two innings against Portland starter Mike Augliera (L, 0-3), who lasted three and two third innings in the game.

Dustin Lawley (2-3, HR, 3 RBI, R) hit a homer over the Maine Monster in the first inning, Gavin Cecchini went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Aderlin Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Jake Kuebler started the game for the Mets and went four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and walking one while striking out one.  Beck Wheeler (W, 1-0) picked up the win in relief, allowing one unearned run on one hit in an inning and two thirds.
