Rockland Public Library: Talk: "Independent Publishing for Maine Writers" on Thursday, April 16 at 6 PM‏

Rockland, Maine - Come to the Rockland Public Library Community Room on Thursday, April 16 at 6:00 PM for the Talk: “Independent Publishing for Maine Writers.”

New advances in printing technology have created a boom in independent publishing. Many first time authors as well as previously published authors are choosing to self-publish. Now is the best time to finish manuscripts and learn about the publishing options available. Jane Karker from Maine Authors Publishing will guide authors through the steps needed to publish responsibly, effectively and learn to avoid the many pitfalls in the fast-changing world of independent publishing. Participants will find out about self-publishing, the importance of editing, eBooks, marketing plans, and the technical assistance they need to get their book in print.

Jane Karker is president of Maine Authors Publishing and Boston Writers Publishing. She teaches marketing and publicity to authors in libraries, workshops and adult education course throughout New England. Jane especially enjoys “myth-busting”…that is– sharing data and real-life experience about what really happens and can happen in the often confusing world of independent publishing. With over 20 years of experience in the publishing and printing industry, Jane will address ways to affordably produce, publish and market books for self-publishing authors.

This program is free and open to the public. The Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St. in Rockland. For more information, call 594-0310.
