Rockland, Maine - Come to the Rockland Public Library Community Room on Tuesday, April 14 at 6:00 PM for a screening of the film Growing Local, which will be followed by a discussion with local farmers from 3 Bug Farm in Lincolnville & Morning Dew Farm in Newcastle and Shannon Grimes from Maine Farmland Trust.
Growing Local is a collaboration between Maine Farmland Trust and Seedlight Pictures. The film points to the vibrancy and the growing pains of the local food movement in Maine, and the uncertain fate of the farmers and farmland that keep it alive. The film contains three short vignettes: “Seeding A Dream,” “Pig Not Pork,” and “Changing Hands.” Each focuses on a different challenge hindering the growth of the local food movement in Maine, and points toward possible solutions.
The screening is free and open to everyone, thanks to the Good Tern Co op, Friends of the Rockland Public Library and Maine Farmland Trust. The Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St. in Rockland. More information and a schedule of upcoming shows can be found on the Maine Farmland Trust website mainefarmlandtrust.org/films, or by calling 338-6575.
