Portland Public Library and Portland Stage continue Page to Stage series with a discussion about “Papermaker” by Monica Wood

Tuesday, April 28th at noon in the Rines Auditorium
Portland, Maine - Portland Public Library continues the “Page to Stage” discussion series in partnership with Portland Stage on Tuesday, April 28th in the Rines Auditorium with a conversation about “Papermaker” by local author Monica Wood. Portland Stage’s performance of the play will be discussed, along with the idea of “Rewriting Maine: creativity and authenticity in a new play set in our own backyard.”

During a paper mill strike in a small Maine town, the lives of two families collide around a company CEO and a man building a wooden ark in his yard. Criss-crossing the lines between workers and management, novelist Monica Wood’s first play is a revealing drama about family, loyalty, and the quiet tragedies of mill-town life.

Page to Stage is an opportunity to engage in questions about the plays, playwrights, and ideas presented on Portland Stage Company’s Main Stage.  The discussion is facilitated by Portland Stage artistic staff and free and open to the public.
