It's a sure sign of spring when the North End Shipyard in Rockland Maine starts to get busy. The North End Shipyard is the hub of the Maine windjammer industry. Each year many of the most historic sailing ships in the country come here to be hauled out for that tender loving care and restoration that wooden boats need. Some of these boats are nearly 150 years old and still in commercial service. Still making money for there owners.
The American Eagle, owned by John Foss, is a Gloucester Fisherman. She was a very successful fishing vessel rebuilt by Captain Foss at North End Shipyard for the windjammer trade.
