Augusta, Maine - UMA's Senior Art Exhibition, Inevitable Evolution will showcase the work of 13 graduating UMA art students from May 10th to May 30th at the Charles Danforth Gallery. An opening reception will be held at noon on May 10th immediately following the university's commencement ceremony.
In this year’s show each artist has a personal story to tell through their artwork, highlighting their perspectives on social stress, the processes of life and nature, and the way that people communicate and cope with societal change. The themes range from autism, teenage pregnancy, Alzheimer’s, natural conservation, societal pressure and anxiety.
The artwork of each artist, which includes photography, painting, mixed media, upcycled media, and ceramic, are presented in a series form developed throughout the year as part of their thesis projects.

Heather Marlow, from Belfast, Maine
Bonnie McAdams, from Bath, Maine
Denae Spencer, from Augusta, Maine
Kristyn Beland Smith, from Central Maine

The Danforth Gallery is located in Jewett Hall. Gallery hours are Monday - Wednesday 9:00am - 5:00 pm, Thursdays and Fridays 9:00am - 1:00pm.
