Alphie Patenaude, Landscape/Treeworker, was presented with the Lewiston Public Works’ Employee of the Year Award

Lewiston, Maine - To the applause of his co-workers, Alphie Patenaude, Landscape/Treeworker, was presented with the Lewiston Public Works’ Employee of the Year Award on April 2, 2014.

Mr. Patenaude has received this prestigious award after working for less than two years at Lewiston Public Works.  He came to the Landscape/Treework Division with an extensive background in the tree care industry, and since his arrival, has taken the lead in all tree work the City has completed.  In his nomination for Employee of the Month, August 2013, his co-workers noted that in all areas of work that are not tree related, such as landscaping, plowing, or numerous other miscellaneous tasks he has been assigned, Mr. Patenaude has learned quickly.  With the retirement of one crew leader and another out on long term sick leave, he did an excellent job leading the crew as they completed an amazing amount of work in the summer of 2013.

Mr. Patenaude was also praised for always producing high quality work, which is completed in a timely, safe, and efficient manner. He has also proven to be very dependable.  Alphie Patenaude is an asset to the Public Works Department and to the City of Lewiston.

Each month, employees can be nominated by co-workers for actions both on and off the job. They are then reviewed by the Employee of the Month committee, and presented to the successful individual at the beginning of the next month. In 2013, the Employees of the Month were: Daniel ‘Diz” Ouellette, W&S Meter Person, January; Roger Paradis, W&S Meter Person, February; Joe Thibodeau, Garage Assistant, March; Rick Dubuc, Highway Worker, April; Steve Damien, Traffic Worker, May; Gerry Lajoie, Highway Worker, June; Randy Nault, W&S Worker, July; Al Patendaude, Landscape/Treeworker, August; Ryan Barnes, Engineer, September; Mike Robitaille, Welder, October; Don St. Pierre, Highway Worker, November; and Daniel J.
