On Saturday, August 17, the York Gateway Farmers’ Market will be highlighting two vendors: Carter Hill Orchard, a part-time vendor & Ellie May’s Candy, a full-season vendor
Carter Hill Orchard is open July 26th – Dec 21st in Concord, NH. Their season starts with pick your own blueberries in July. Apple picking is Sept 2nd until the end of October. They have apples, peaches, vegetables, pumpkins and a bakery with cookies, pies, chocolate & pumpkin whoopee pies. They make their own apple cider donuts as well! Cider is mid-September until December with a gift shop and tractor rides on weekends. Carter Hill attends the market five Saturdays a season. There are only two left to catch them: August 17 & 24!
Ellie Stevens, owner of Ellie May’s Candy, LLC has been making a traditional butter crunch candy that she calls Ellie May’s Sweet Toffee Crunch for over 25 years. It is truly the best you will taste. It comes covered in a choice of dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate. She sells it in 4 oz bags and has available an assorted bag of chocolates for those who can’t make up their mind. She offers a frequent buyer card. Also offered are Spiced Walnuts and therapeutic heating pads.
Don’t forget: We’re collecting food donations for the York Food Pantry on Saturdays! The food pantry is able to accept perishable items from our market on those days, which means you can donate produce!
The market runs every Saturday from June 1 through October 12 from 9:00am - 1:00pm and every Thursday from July 4 through August 29 from 9:00am - 1:00pm. Thank you to our sponsor, When Pigs Fly! The market takes place in the lot behind the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce off Route 1 in York, Maine.
