Terriers Drop Non-Conference Match at USM 7-2

GORHAM, ME – The Thomas College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to the University of Southern Maine in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon.

In the defeat, the Terriers drop to 2-5 (1-2 NEAC) on the season while the Huskies earn their first victory of the season and improve to 1-5.

In singles play Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine / Spruce Mountain) lost on the number one line 8-3, while Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) defeated Liz Martin 4-3 (7/4) for her fourth straight singles victory at number two.  Amelia Guimond (Fort Kent, Maine / Fort Kent) earned the victory in threes with an 8-6 win while Mia Navarro (Willimantic, Conn. / Windham) dropped an 8-6 decision in number four singles.  Maddelyn Butts (Auburn, Maine / Edward Little) and Sarah Vigue (Dexter, Maine / Dexter) fell in five and sixes 8-2, 8-0.

The Terriers were defeated in all three doubles matches with Allen and Mora (8-4), Guimond and Navarro (8-2), and Butts and Olita Laraway (Morrisville, Vermont / Peoples Academy) (8-1).

Thomas will host their next match on Saturday, September 24, as they face Castleton in a 1:00 p.m. match at the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.
