Slugger and His Dad Ready to Lead 8th Annual Sea Dogs Father's Day 5K Road Race

Race Benefits the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer
Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs in conjunction with the Maine Track Club and Maine Medical Center, will host the eighth annual Father's Day 5K Road Race on Father's Day, Sunday, June 19th at 9:15 AM. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer.   There will also be a Kid's Run beginning at 8:30 AM that is free of charge.

Slugger and his Dad lead the way on the flat 5K course which begins in front of the Portland Expo building, travels down Congress Street, turning down Stevens Avenue, and making a right onto Brighton Avenue back down Deering Avenue into Fitzpatrick Stadium. The race culminates with a unique finish inside Hadlock Field in front of the third base dugout. The course is USAT&F certified and is part of the USAT&F Sanctioned Grand Prix series.

The top overall male and female finishers will receive a trophy, a pair of 2016 Season Tickets for the remainder of the 2016 Sea Dogs season, and will have the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first-pitch prior to a future Portland Sea Dogs game. The top three male and female finishers in each age group will also be presented with awards. All participants of the race will receive a complimentary ticket to attend a future Sea Dogs game.

The race is open to the public. Walkers and wheelchair racers are welcome as well. Registration is $20.00. The kid's race is free. Limited spots are still available, you may register online at www.seadogs.com or at Fleet Feet Maine Running Company located on Marginal Way in Portland Saturday, June 18th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Additionally, if spots remain, runners may register the day of the race at Hadlock Field from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.  Runners who have already registered may also pick-up their packets at the Fleet Feet Maine Running Company during the same hours as above.

Road Closures:
Park Avenue from Weymouth Street to Saint John Street will be closed to traffic from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM on Sunday, June 19th.

Prostate Cancer Awareness Night at the Ballpark
The Sea Dogs will host Prostate Cancer Awareness Night at the Ballpark on Wednesday, June 22nd when the team hosts the Harrisburg Senators at 7:00 PM at Hadlock Field.  The team will wear blue jerseys for prostate cancer awareness.  In a pre-game ceremony the Sea Dogs will present the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer a check for the proceeds from the 5K road race.
