Camden Public Library Events October 22 through November 5

Thursday, October 22

Camden Conference presents Nano Chatfield on Girls Education in Tanzania, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.


Sunday, October 25

Two-hour workshop, “Creative Process: Exploring Your Artistry” with Teresa Piccari, 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Free, please call to sign up, 236-3440. The workshop will be repeated Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm.


Tuesday, October 27

Lilly Filippi of United Healthcare will give a presentation covering Medicare basics, with parts A, B, C and D, and answer questions. The sessions will be on Tuesday mornings, 10:00 to 11:30 am, in the Picker Room at the Camden Public Library, from October 20 to November 17.

Leer y charlar is a “Read and chat” session entirely in Spanish, 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. The discussion group is open to all who are proficient in Spanish. For more information contact leerycharlar@gmail.com.

 “Evolution of the Labyrinth” with Chris Glass, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, hosted by the Camden Philosophical Society.

Wednesday, October 28

Annual “Spooktacular” story hour and craft time at the Camden Public Library, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. “Don’t forget to come in costume!” says Children’s Librarian Miss Amy. “Parents and kids are encouraged to get into the spirit!” If you would like to volunteer Spooky Snacks, please call Miss Amy at the library at 236-3440.


Thursday, October 29

Author Kenneth Davis presents “The Hidden History of America at War: Untold Tales from Yorktown to Fallujah,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Davis is also the author of the “Don’t Know Much About History” series.

The  fifth annual “Pumpkin Palooza” display of amazing jack-o’-lanterns, 7:00 pm in the Camden Amphitheatre. Bring your pumpkin to the amphitheater or drop it off during the day in the Children’s Garden with your name on it. This is a great way for more people to enjoy your jack-o-lantern; bring it home right after and use it for Halloween. Call the library at 236-3440 with questions.


Saturday, October 31

Simply Books! Club open to all, 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Simply bring whatever you’re currently reading!


Monday, November 2

Camden Public Library will host an information session from the University College at Rockland for people interested in returning (or starting) college. Free, call 596-6906 to sign up. 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, in the second floor meeting room.

“Writers Read” presentation by the writers of the Coastal Senior College, 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All are welcome to join the audience.


Tuesday, November 3

The Tech Tuesday topic is “Facebook 101,” 3:00 pm at the Camden Public Library with Olga Zimmerman. Please bring your laptop or tablet if you’d like to follow along; sign up by calling 236-3440.

Africa: Who Wins, Who Loses? discussion series of the Camden Conference, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome.   


Wednesday, November 4   

Midcoast Stroke Support Group meets at 10:00 am at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome. Meetings will continue on first Wednesdays.


Thursday, November 5

Camden Library Coffeehouse Features Meteora, 7:00 pm. Meteora  plays an eclectic array of original songs and folk ballads, as well as traditional tunes, songs, and original arrangements. Tight three-part harmonies and varied arrangements are Meteora’s signature. Admission to the Coffeehouse is only $7, refreshments will be available.
