Camden/Rockport, Maine - Wildlife Biologist Christopher Lage will lead a talk on Maine wild turkeys at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, September 30 at 12:00 noon.
The turkey population has been rapidly expanding since turkeys were reintroduced into Maine. Lage’s presentation will examine current research of how and why these numbers are on the rise, what they mean for turkey population genetics, pathogens and disease, and the public perceptions of this “noble” bird.
Lage is an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Maine at Augusta and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Marine Sciences at the University of Maine. His primary research focuses on DNA analysis for conservation and wildlife management. He earned his PhD in Biological Sciecnes in 2005 and an MS in Marine Biology in 2000 from the University of Maine.
This presentation is part of the Summer Talk Series at Merryspring, co-sponsored by Camden National Bank and Jaret & Cohn Real-Estate.
