Portland, Maine - In the spirit of Halloween, Historical Haunts, in partnership with Port City Music Hall will host a film screening of the documentary Vampires of New England.
Dacre Stoker, great-grandnephew of Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, will kick off the evening by
sharing rarely seen historical images and source materials that inspired the themes of “Dracula.”
The evening culminates with a screening of Vampires of New England, a documentary which
explores the gradual evolution of vampire mythology from stories concerning people afflicted with
wasting disease to the aristocratic figure of “Dracula”.
The mindset of those who performed vampire exorcisms, a willingness to try anything when faced
with the death of a loved one- is as relevant today as it was in the 19th century.
