UMA students to showcase their art work in juried exhibit April 14th - May 1st‏

Augusta, Maine - The 2014 Juried Student Art Exhibition will be on display at the UMA Charles Danforth Gallery April 14 - May 1st.  There will be a reception to celebrate exhibiting students on Sunday, April 27th from 3:00 – 5:00pm.

Local artist, Kirsten Campbell and UMaine, Professor Laurie E. Hicks will jury the exhibit, which reflects a broad range of media and topics while showcasing students at all stages of academic development.

Campbell has worked as a professional artist, exhibiting in commercial galleries and museum exhibitions nationally and internationally, most recently in Barcelona Spain, where she taught students and curated multiple exhibitions. Campbell also taught at Pratt Institute in NYC for 10 years prior to relocating to Maine.

Hicks, a professor of art at the University of Maine where she teaches art education theory and practice, and graduate research methods for MFA students, also serves as curator for the Lord Hall Gallery on the University of Maine campus and is coordinator for the Maine Curators' Group.

The Danforth Gallery is located in Jewett Hall on the University of Maine at Augusta campus.  Gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday, 9:00am–5:00pm, Thursdays 9:00-7:00pm and Fridays 9:00am-1:00pm.
