Lobstermen have started to work on gear in their permitted storage areas.

OFFICE OF THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY DIRECTOR
The vacuum truck jetter pump is leaking hydraulic fluid. If the seals aren’t the only problem with the pump, a rebuilt replacement pump will cost around $14,000.
The truck is scheduled for repair on April 15th.
Completed eight Dig Safe checks for Public Works.
Completed manhole surveys on Rankin Street.
Cleaned two basins at the intersection of Grace and Broad Street. Also cleared a sewer line plug here, which led us to discover this area has a combined sewer,
very unusual this close to the brook.
CN Wood was on site for a jetter nozzle demonstration. We need a way to cut
lateral lines that protrude into the main lines so laterals won’t block the inspection camera. CN Wood carries a nozzle that cuts clay pipe with high pressure water
jets.
We installed the piping on the new ferric chloride tank. We still need to hydro test the tank before ordering chemical.
Worked with Fisher Engineering on their Industrial User permit renewal application.
Submitted our monthly Discharge Monitoring Report to DEP.
The new rest room work continues. Framing was installed for the siding, plumbing and electrical were roughed in and the concrete floors were poured.
Repaired the belt press No. 2 polymer pump this week.

Trash pickup for roadside receptacle containers and city buildings for two days.
Cleaned out gutters and set out benches at Library.
Sweeping city streets all week with Tymco street sweeper.
Cold patching city streets with one crew on Monday and Thursday and two crews Wednesday and Friday. Picked up two truckloads of cold patch in Bangor.
Cleaned up trash and pruned bushes along Main Street fence bordering Merrill
Park.
Refurbishing picnic tables and trash can holders for three days.
One crew checked and cleaned catch basins, brooks, and culverts for one and a
half days for rain on Tuesday.
One day working on sign maintenance.
Mechanics working on 1999 Johnson street sweeper engine and general servicing, 2011 International dump truck new fenders installed, replaced gutter brooms and center broom on 2008 Tymco sweeper, removing wings on trucks, 2004 Vactor maintenance.
OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE
The officers responded to 185 calls for service. Rockland Police Officers responded to three motor vehicle crashes. Twenty (20) traffic stops and traffic violations were conducted. The officers made 19 arrests of individuals for various offenses, to include bail Warrants of Arrest, Bail violations, Drug offenses, Theft, traffic Offenses, Alcohol offenses, Trespassing, Probation violations and OUI.
The Rockland Police Department is working on an Under Age Drinking Law
enforcement grant with other health and law enforcement agencies in the
counties of Knox, Sagadahoc, Waldo and Lincoln.
Chief Boucher and Sgt. Camporaile submitted a report concerning an FBI audit of the Departments Uniform Crime Reporting procedures on NIBRS implementation.
The Nation Drug Take Back program will once again take place on Saturday April 26th from 10 AM to 2 PM at Rockland City Hall. Last fall approximately 75 pounds of unused, expired and unwanted mediation was turned in during the four hour period. If you have unused or unwanted medication, bring it to the location and the Rockland Police Department will dispose of it for you.
OFFICE OF THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR
Participants in Catinka Knoth’s Adult Drawing enjoyed creating spring paper-cuts this week, and Children’s Drawing classes drew Easter bunnies and eggs.
AARP Tax Aide trained volunteers held their last sessions this week. We are so grateful to the dedicated volunteers who make it possible for us to offer this
service in Rockland.
Erika Pfander was a guest Storytime host again this week; we also had therapy
dog handler Steve Seekins here with Maggie, the lovely lurcher.
The Arts...for Kids & their Families at the Rockland Public Library continued, with Jess Day’s JAMMM (Jess' Art Music Movement & Mindfulness), and a sing-along concert by Rob Duquette.
The second of four planned Fireside Poetry events featured the High Tide Poets, and tasty treats from the Friends.
Patty King and I attended the Business Expo at the Samoset, both to gather
information from potential program presenters and to give out copies of Did You
Know, which highlights some of the services and resources of the Library, along
with information on our meeting spaces for rent.
Jean Young attended the 25th Reading Roundup at the Augusta Civic Center, the annual conference promoting reading and literature for children and young adults, jam-packed with speakers, workshops, and information.
Erika Pfander hosted The Thursday evening Arts & Cultural Event viewing of the film, The Secret Life of Words.
Linda Barnes attended the quarterly cataloging roundtable for Minerva/Solar
libraries, at Husson College.
Participants were shown how to make a terrarium from an old soda bottle during a “crafterrnoon” for teens and tweens.

OFFICE OF THE CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Dave and John attended a meeting conducted by FEMA and State Floodplain
Officials on 4/8/14 at City Hall. This meeting was held to describe the map review process and address initial questions regarding the flood hazard data that was released in January 2014.
The owners of the Home Kitchen Cafe submitted a Site Plan Review Application for a change of use from the existing Hair Salon to an Ice Cream Shop and Bakery at 19 North Main Street.
License inspections were done with the Fire Dept. at Roselyn Seafood (1 Payne Avenue) and Sandbagger’s CafĂ© at the Rockland Golf Club.
There were four complaints filed this week.

OFFICE OF THE FIRE CHIEF
In addition to responding to the normal flow of fire and EMS calls, apparatus checks, cleaning, repairs and maintenance to the fleet and cleaning and maintenance of the quarters, the following occurred:
The Department reviewed the possible relocation of a fire hydrant as part of the Thorndike Parking Lot project.
The Fire Chief attended a meeting with PBMC regarding a fire safety presentation.
The Department trained on air monitoring for hazardous materials.
The Department trained on use of the new IV pumps.
The Department performed one Life Safety Code inspection.
OFFICE OF THE RECREATION DIRECTOR
We are between seasons at the moment and we are getting ready for the
summer season. The sign-ups for Summer Day Camp start on the 21st
of April and the information flyers will be going out to schools on the 10th of April.
The Recreation Department will be having organized activities during April
vacation. This flyer will also be going out to schools on the 10th of April.
The gym is busy at night lately as we are having Little League practice, indoor
soccer and spring basketball practice using the facility.
The Art program here at the Recreation building will be growing this summer as we are adding a mural painting class that will be part of the RSU # 13 Adult Education Program.

Installed new cash drawer with SMS in gate house, and fixed cash drawer driver issue.
Ordered fuel tank straps for western star.
Had three tires repaired, and two bad tires removed from rims and replaced with good tires on MSW trailers.
Ordered seat belts and safety tether for the 816F.
Mailed back defective cash drawer to Creative Information Systems.
