LOCAL STUDENT TO DEBUT FILM
Portland, Maine - Local student filmmaker, Mark Pokora, will be debuting his short
film "The Line" at the Maine Mayhem Film Festival on Thursday, May 8th at the Nickelodeon
Theater in downtown Portland. "The Line" is a neo-noir film shot in the style of the detective cop
dramas of the late 30s and 40s. Detective Daniel Finn needs to go up against the most powerful
man in the city, James O'Malley. O'Malley has ruined many lives on his rise to power and Daniel
now has the means to bring him down.
Maine Mayhem is a festival comprised of senior students from Southern Maine Community
College’s communications and New Media Program. Founded in 2011 by instructor Corey
Norman and student James Crocco, the festival has continued to grow, selling out the
Nickelodeon Cinema each year. Now in it’s fourth year, we look forward to sharing the newest
generation of Maine filmmaker with our great state as we take the show on the road.
"This marks the fourth year the festival has been held. Each year the the films seem get better
and better. I dare say this is the best crop of Maine Mayhem films that we’ve ever had.”
