In celebration of Youth Art Month, UMA is joining Harlow Gallery and Kennebec Valley Art Association to present, the 1st Annual Maine Statewide High School Ceramic Arts Show, an exhibition of ceramic art by students from high schools statewide.  The exhibit will be on display April 9th – 26th at UMA’s Gannett Gallery.

An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, April 9 from 5 to 7 pm.  Maine State First Lady, Ann LePage will be attendance to hand out certificates and awards to participating students.

"The show sprouted out of a need to highlight students ceramic work,” said project organizer, Russell Kahn, an art instructor at Camden Hills Regional High School.  “This will be the first year to get the project off the ground and see great work from high school students in the state of Maine in the clay medium.”

The exhibit is part of an ongoing partnership between Harlow Gallery and UMA to help reinforce the value of teaching art in high schools and to provide high school artists the ability to show their work in a public gallery.

UMA’s Gannett Gallery is located at 331 Water Street in Augusta.  Gallery hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays 12-5pm.
