Based in Ripley, Maine, Wally makes crazy, colorful cities that rise up from old computer and electronic parts, threaded steel rods, copper wiring, plumbing fixtures, golf balls, typewriter keys, Bic lighters, castoff toys, motor parts, nuts, bolts, screws and wine bottle corks – all painted in vibrant colors. His work has been shown in large urban galleries as well as various libraries, colleges, elementary schools, and a state office building. His “City of Dreams” is on permanent display at the Abbott Memorial Library in Dexter.
He will bring examples of his cities, and images of his other work to talk about his creative process. He will invite questions from participants and offer “jump start” ideas for their own creations. Participants are invited to bring “found objects” to work with. A glue gun will be provided.
The event is free and everyone is welcome. For more information, call the Library at 374-5515.
