Dick Baldwin will give an illustrated talk at 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library on Educational Passages, which launches student-built model sailboats. The sailboats can be tracked by GPS around the world and displayed on your home computer. Part of the Maritime Month series at the library.

Free performance of “The Thinking Heart,” 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day. The performance is based on the life and writings of Etty Hillesum, a Dutch woman who died in Auschwitz in 1943. She left behind a luminous diary and some eighty letters. Written and performed by Martin Steingesser, with Judy Tierney and cellist Robin Jellis.

Master ship modeler Robert Eddy of Camden will unveil his latest creation, a model of Northern Crown, at the Camden Public Library at 7:00 pm, and talk about his lifelong passion for ship model making. The model will be on display along with some of his earliest carvings to accompany his presentation on how this hobby turned into a unique profession. Part of the Maritime Month series at the library.
Thursday, May 1
“Notorious” returns to Camden Library Coffeehouse featuring guitarist Larry Unger and fiddler Eden MacAdam-Somer at 7:00 pm; admission is $8, and $7 for seniors & students. The performance features dazzling fiddlework on traditional American, Celtic, and Eastern-European tunes and songs, swing, blues, classical music and the duo’s original compositions.

“Lawyers in Libraries,” noon to 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, will feature attorney Donald Briggs of Rockport. For Lawyers in Libraries Day, volunteer lawyers provide information on how to access civil legal resources and will be available for a Q&A and brief consultations with attendees.

Opening reception for artist Angela Anderson Pomerleau, 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Pomerlau’s show, “Circus Paintings & Other Works,” will be on display throughout the month of May.

Alder Stone presents an “Earth Systems” approach to analyzing climate change and any possible future threat due to long-term weather changes. 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.

Dr. Lowell Gerber presents “Is Dementia Preventable?” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome. Gerber is a cardiologist and specialist in the physiology of exercise, nutrition, and metabolism. He helps patients to lose weight, build strength, restore health, and remain functional longer.
