Unity College Students Plan Voter Parade to the Polls on November 6

Unity, Maine - On election day, November 6, civic minded Unity College students will hold a “voter parade” from the college campus on Quaker Hill Road to the local polling place at the Community Center on School Street.
The non-partisan parade will begin at 11 a.m. in front of the Student Center on the Unity College campus, 90 Quaker Hill Road, Unity.  Sponsored by the Unity College Diversity Committee and Constructive Activists student group, the parade has been incorporated into the class structure of first-year students taking a course entitled The Unity Experience, which stresses core values of the college community including civic engagement.
The parade is open to the general public.  Participants are welcome to carry signs that express their personal political beliefs and preferences, though messaging should be appropriate for a family audience.  Colorful costumes are also encouraged.
Holding a “voter parade” to the polls has been a Unity College tradition since the 2004 Presidential election.
Unity College is a small private college in rural Maine that provides dedicated, engaged students with a liberal arts education that emphasizes the environment and natural resources. Unity College graduates are prepared to be environmental stewards, effective leaders, and responsible citizens through active learning experiences within a supportive community.
