Songwriters Sessions Begin

Songwriters Sessions Begin January 20

The Camden Public Library will again host a Songwriters Series this winter. The sessions are for writers working on their songwriting and who would like an appreciative audience to share their music. The group will meet once a month on third Tuesdays through the winter and have an opportunity to perform at the Songwriters Coffeehouse in June at the library.

The sessions will be led by veteran songwriters David Dodson and John Nicholas with assistance from Rachel Nicholas. Dodson is a longtime resident of Camden and a troubadour in a wide variety of musical styles from rockabilly to folk to novelty songs. The Nicholases have recently moved to the area and have remodeled their home to include a sound studio. They host the regular “Second Sunday” music series at the Harbor Square Gallery in Rockland.

The Songwriters Series is an opportunity to get some positive feedback and perhaps even some harmony or instrumental backup to help you out. The first session is Tuesday, January 20, 6:00-8:00 pm and will continue on third Tuesdays. Suggested donation of $5 will help cover expenses. Drop-ins are welcome. Call Ken Gross at the library at 236-3440 for more information and to let us know you are coming. The dates of the sessions are: Tuesdays, January 20, February 17, March 17, April 21 , and May 19. The Songwriters Coffeehouse will be on Thursday, June 4.
