Slugger and His Dad Ready to Lead 7th Annual Sea Dogs Father's Day 5K Road Race

Race Benefits the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer
Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs in conjunction with the Maine Track Club and Maine Medical Center, will host the seventh annual Father's Day 5K Road Race on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21st, 2015 at 9:15 AM. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer.   There will also be a Kid's Run beginning at 8:30 AM that is free of charge.

A field of approximately 1,500 runners is expected for the race, making it one of the largest 5K road races in the state.  The Sea Dogs' Mother's Day 5K which draws approximately 3,000 runners is the state's largest 5K.

The Sea Dogs are in need of several volunteers for the race.  If interested please log on to www.seadogs.com for more information or contact the Sea Dogs Office at 207-874-9300.

All bags entering Hadlock Field will be inspected.  The Sea Dogs highly recommend that people

Meghan McCarthy Steps Out For The 7th Annual Shorty Awards

New York City, New York - Actress and Viner Meghan McCarthy looked simply beautiful in a black, white romper with black heels as she steps out for The 7th Annual Shorty Awards on April 20, 2015 in New York City.

Meghan is an actress, voice over artist and has over 1.8 million followers on Vine! She just graduated from college with a degree in Theatre. Recently, Meghan voiced an ad for Honda and has even written and acted in advertisements for Coca-Cola, UGG, Tic Tac, Oral B, Zara Terez and more. Throughout high school she was involved in every play and won awards for her acting and Improv skills. However, Meghan realized film and voiceovers were her dream! As a featured extra in the movie Due Date, she was able to work side by side with her favorite actor Robert Downey Jr., who spoke to her between takes and even started joking with her and singing to her! In addition, Meghan loves recording voiceovers. The reaction she received after recording children's books for charity convinced Meghan she was on the right path. Nothing in the world makes her happier than being able to make children smile and people of all ages laugh. That's one of the many reasons why she loves making Vines for her followers!

Keynote Sessions for Preparedness Conference to Focus on Climate and the Impact to Emergency Management

Augusta, Maine - The 7th Annual Maine Partners in Emergency Preparedness Conference (April 21st and 22nd, Augusta Civic Center) will feature two thought-provoking plenary sessions. On Tuesday, an internationally acclaimed scientist and explorer, leader of more than 55 expeditions to some of the remotest reaches of the planet, will discuss what he and his team have learned about the global climate system and its application to Maine. And on Wednesday, a member of New York State Office of Emergency Management, well versed in disaster management, will talk about the massive lake effect snow storm that struck Western New York in November 2014.

Local Stars Take The Stage April 10, Wayfinder Schools Benefit

Camden, Maine - The 7th annual Dancing with Local Stars will be held on Friday, April 10 at the Camden Opera House. This popular event pairs midcoast celebrities with professional dance instructors who take the stage together to show off their best dance moves in support of Wayfinder Schools.

This year’s incredible cast of stars includes Ben Curtis, Polly Saltonstall, Heather Hearst, Matt Bixby, Owen Casas, Hodding Carter, Betsy Kingsley, Craig Oullette, Erin Ovalle, and Lucinda Ziesing. Each star will be paired with instructors from Swing & Sway Dancing or Kinetic Energy Alive. Together they will will Waltz, Tango, Jive, Foxtrot, Hip Hop and Swing their way into the hearts of audience members, all for a great cause-helping Maine teens graduate from high school.

The show will also include special performances by Studio Red, Shana Bloomstein, Rockport Dance Conservatory, Atlantic Ballet Company, Swing & Sway Dancing, Kinetic Energy Alive and the students of Wayfinder Schools, making for an unforgettable evening in support of Maine kids.

Hair. make-up and transportation for the stars will be provided by The Cutting Room, Beauty Mark and Country Coach Charters. Erin Donovan of Spoon and The Bangor Daily News will MC the show. An after party at The Smokestack Grill will include music by DJ Terry Frank.  This incredible community effort wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the 2015 Dancing with Local Stars sponsors: Lead Event Sponsor Camden Real Estate Company, Old Port Advisors, Maine Magazine, Pen Bay Pilot, Grand Harbor Inn and Lord Camden Inn.
