Bowdoin Snaps Terriers' Five-Game Winning Streak

BRUNSWICK, ME – The Thomas College men's soccer team snapped a five-game winning streak in a 2-1 double overtime loss to Bowdoin on Monday afternoon.

The defeat drops the Terriers to 5-3-1 (4-0 NAC) overall on the season while the win improves the Polar Bears to 5-2-2.

The score remained even in the first half with a lot of midfield play and the Terriers holding a 2-1 shot advantage.

Sophomore Adam LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine / Yarmouth) broke open the scoring just 59 seconds into the first half when he headed in a crossing pass from Nawfal El-Antri (Dorchester, Mass. / Bunker Hill).  Bowdoin evened the score in the 55th minute as Ethan Ellsworth fired in a deep shot from the right side.

The game was decided late in the second overtime as Ellsworth sent in a crossing pass on a corner attempt.  Ely Spencer headed the pass into the net in traffic to give the Polar Bears a 2-1 victory.

Drew Martin (Berwick, Maine / SMCC) was given his first loss in goal for the Terriers, making two saves while Stevie Van Siclen earned the victory in goal for the Polar Bears, stopping five shots.

The Terriers will return to action on Wednesday, October 5, as they travel to the University of Southern Maine for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
