The Grand Presents a special “Men, Women & Children” Screening

Ellsworth, Maine - On Friday September 9th at 6 pm at The Grand in Ellsworth, the Aroostook Mental Health Center (AMHC)- in recognition of Suicide Awareness Month- presents the film “Men, Women and Children,” to bring awareness to youth suicide.

The screening of the Jason Reitman (“Juno,” “Up in the Air”) film is sponsored through the Safe Fund, a fund set up by Bart and Bonnie Tokas, and includes an after-screening panel of local mental health and substance abuse counselors who work with youth and adults in our community to answer questions. The film is rated R” due to some sexual content and profanity, and addresses many of the challenges our society faces today around the Internet, social media and peer pressure. “Men, Women and Children” is the story of a group of high school teenagers and their parents as they attempt to navigate the many ways the internet has changed their relationships, their communication, their self-image, and their love lives. The film attempts to stare down social issues such as video game culture, anorexia, infidelity, fame hunting, and the proliferation of illicit material on the internet. Adam Sandler stars in a rare dramatic role, with support from Jennifer Garner, J.K. Simmons, Dean Norris and Dennis Haysbert, as well as Emma Thompson providing a voiceover as the narrator. (2014. US 1hr, 59min., not including the after-screening panel. Directed by Jason Reitman. R.)
