An Introduction to Restorative Justice

An Introduction to Restorative Justice November 18

Hanlon Kelley of the Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast, based in Belfast, will be present “An Introduction to Restorative Justice” at the Camden Public Library on Tuesday, November 18, at 7:00 pm. Restorative Justice provides methods for addressing wrong-doing that are not adversarial or punitive, but instead focus on healing the relationships that have been harmed and meeting the needs of those affected. “If you’d like to find out more about this philosophy and how it is implemented locally, as well as how you can use it in your own life, join us for this talk!” Kelley says.

Founded in 2005, the Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast promotes fundamental change in the justice system and schools. “We work with court-involved youth and adults, and with residents at the Maine Coastal Regional Reentry Center,” she added. “Our responses to crime and wrongdoing seek renewal and safety for the community, support and healing for victims, and accountability and reintegration of the offender.”
