Wildlands Group Mountain Bike Ride, Sunday, Sept. 28
Orland, Maine - Celebrate Great Maine Outdoor Weekend with a spectacular mountain bike ride! This 7-mile, expert-level ride in the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands will connect the Dead River and Great Pond Mountain Trails to the summit of Great Pond Mountain and back. Dirt roads, highly technical sections of trail and steep climbs and descents are featured. Enjoy some breathtaking views and spectacular foliage in this expansive wilderness! Meet on your bicycle at the Wildlands’ Dead River Gate at 10 am (please park at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, Hatchery Road, and ride ½ mile up Don Fish Road to the gate). Riders need to come with water, snacks and helmets, and with mountain bikes (wide tires with aggressive tread) in proper working order. Front suspension is recommended.
