“Introduction to Unschooling”

“Introduction to Unschooling” September 18

Unschooling advocate and author Sandra Dodd, her husband Keith Dodd, and local resident Laurie Wolfrum will be at the Camden Public Library at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 18, to talk about “unschooling” and to suggest some ways that parents can explore unschooling ideas to enrich their children’s lives and family togetherness. The presentation will be in the Jean Picker Room at the library.

Laurie Wolfrum, who unschools three of her four children, explains, “Unschooling is a form of homeschooling in which parents facilitate and support their child’s interests by providing a rich, interesting, and stimulating environment. Parents act as facilitators and partners with their children to help them do more of what they love. Unschooling allows children to learn and grow in their own way and time, supports the continued love of learning, and enables the parent/child relationship to flourish.”

Sandra Dodd, renowned for sharing unschooling information through her comprehensive website, online groups, and unschooling symposiums, is the author of Moving a Puddle and Sandra Dodd’s Big Book of Unschooling.  She has spoken at conferences all over the U.S. and in several other countries, has written numerous articles for national and international educational magazines, and has been interviewed on radio shows and podcasts. She and her husband live in Albuquerque, NM, where they raised three children who never went to school. Visit  SandraDodd.com for more information.

Those who would like to learn more about unschooling are invited to come to a free evening session from 6:30- 8:30pm on Friday September 26 at the First Congregational Church in Camden.

Unschoolers who would like to register for the Always Learning Symposium on Friday September 26 and Saturday September 27 may do so by visiting the symposium website: http://allinmaine.blogspot.com.  Symposium attendees are welcome to stay for the free Friday evening session for new unschoolers.
