Hope Crash Tuesday Evening Leads To Violations

HOPE, Maine - At 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 16th, Knox County Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Gillette Rd. and Hope St. with reportedly no injuries.  Deputy Nathan Jack responded and was assisted by State Trooper Jeremy Wesbrock.

Deputy Jack found that a 1982, Ford, commercial duty boom truck had rolled over on its’ side and landed on a 2008 Ford Focus owned by Priscilla Winslow, 52, of Camden, that was parked in a driveway.  No one was in the Focus.  The operator of the boom truck, Samuel Whitley, 33, of Hope stated as he was going down the hill on Gillette Road approaching the intersection when he lost the brakes on the truck.  Whitley attempted to make the corner onto Hope St. and lost control of the truck.  Due to the weight of the truck, it rolled over on to the hood of the Focus.  Whitley had two passengers in the truck, Christopher Feener, 49, of Union and Feener’s juvenile son.  Christopher Feener is the owner of the truck and subsequently was summonsed for allowing operation of an uninspected, unregistered, uninsured motor vehicle as well as a seatbelt violation.  The operator was issued a summons for Operating Without a License as he was operating beyond the weight limit of his non-commercial license.

Hope Fire assisted at the scene with traffic and the vehicles were towed by All Directions.  Commericial Vehicle Enforcement of the Maine State Police was also notified to assist with the crash.
