Rockland, Maine - It has been a long time coming for a Friendship Sloop to be finished and launched. 'Persistence', a 27 foot Friendship Sloop was finally launched today under partly cloudy skies in Rockland's Snow Marine Park with a big crowd watching as she took her first taste of salt water.
Rockland Sail, Power and Steam Museum volunteers worked hard to get 'Persistence' ready for her launching. Volunteers did a great job as 'Persistence' never looked better than she does in the water.
Jim Sharp and the museum will be using their flagship 'Persistence' to haul lobster traps to show people how it was done many year's ago.
Congratulations to Jim Sharp and the museum on the launching of 'Persistence
