All proceeds from the plant sale benefit Merryspring, a member-supported, non-profit nature park and education center located at the end of Conway Road just off Route 1 by the Hannaford Shopping Plaza in Camden.

This year’s plant sale offers a diverse array of perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, and hardy roses, with a special focus on beautiful, colorful, and unusual foliage amongthe perennials and annuals.  Some of the featured plants are four varieties of Heucheraand Heucherella, including ‘Obsidian’ and ‘Citronella’; the Wizard Mix and Rainbow Series of Coleus; and a wild selection of Amaranthus, including ‘Molten Fire’, ‘Early Splendor’, and ‘Joseph's Coat’.

Plants that will attract butterflies and delight the eye areBuddleia ‘Buzz’, a smaller, more graceful bright violet-purple butterfly bush, and the towering orange-flowered Tithonia‘Torch’, which can add substance and
brilliance in a mixed border. Sedum ‘Matrona‘ and ‘Neon’ add interest and stamina throughout the growing season and into the winter. Echinacea is hot, and Merryspring has some of the hottest new varieties: ‘Cheyenne Spirit’, ‘Big Sky Sundown’, and ‘Solar Flare’.

Also being offered are 10 varieties of roses grown in Canada for the plant sale. Some are lovely hybrid teas, some are very hardy shrubs bred for our climate. Included are some of the favorite “English Roses,” including ‘Graham Thomas’ and ‘Heritage’.

Many colors of beautiful daylilies grown by members of the Maine Daylily Society will be available at the sale.  Mid-coast gardeners can also find parsley, rosemary , lavender, basil, and other herbs as well as tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, squash, and other vegetables at Merryspring during the plant sale.
