Hartford, Connecticut – The Portland Pirates begin a home and home series with the Hartford Wolf Pack tonight in Hartford as they face the Wolf Pack at the XL Center. Puck drop is 7 PM for the 5th meeting between the two teams, and the second of three this week. The Pirates will host Hartford at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee tomorrow at 4 PM.
The Pirates snapped a 4 game losing skid on Thursday with a 6-4 defeat of the Worcester Sharks. Brendan Shinnimin and Tobias Rieder scored twice for the Pirates, with Andy Miele and Brett Hextall also adding goals. Miele’s goal, along with an assist in the first period, set a career high in points in a season with 55 in only 52 games. Mark Visentin earned the win in net, making 35 saves.
The Wolf Pack outlasted the Hershey Bears last night with a 2-1 shootout win. Ryan Bourque scored Hartford’s regulation goal in the third period, with Marek Hrivik and T.J. Hensick scoring in the shootout. Dov Grumet-Morris made 29 saves and stopped 4 of the 5 shootout attempts for the win.
Hartford visited the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston on Tuesday and came away with a 4-3 win. The Pirates scored 3 times in the first period, but the Wolf Pack scored twice in the second and twice in the third to take the win. Lucas Lessio, Andy Miele, and Rostislav Klesla had the Pirates goals, while Louis Domingue made 24 saves in the loss.

Hang Tough: The Pirates faced a late scare on Thursday as Worcester got within one goal, but were able to hold on for the victory. The Pirates need to get the lead early tonight and play an aggressive, heavy style in order to maintain it for the victory.
