Pirates Look to Snap Streaks in St. John’s

Pirates (21-29-2-8, 52 points) at IceCaps (37-19-1-3, 78 Points), 6:00 PM EDT
St. John’s, NL – The Portland Pirates will play the middle game of their three game series with the St. John’s IceCaps tonight at the MileOne Centre in St. John’s Newfoundland. Puck drop is set for 6 PM. The Pirates will look to snap the IceCaps’ 9 game win streak and snap a 4 game winless streak as well.
St. John’s was victorious in Wednesday’s contest to open the 3 game series, defeating the Pirates 5-1. Mathieu Brodeur scored the lone Pirates goal, his second of the year, but the IceCaps exploded for 4 goals in a 5:19 span in the second period to win their 9th straight game.
KeyBank Key to the Game
Shut It Down:
The Pirates have been allowing goals in bursts, especially to the IceCaps. The Pirates defense needs to stop the St. John’s offense from gaining momentum, especially after they score a goal, in order to be successful tonight.
New Pirates Cade Fairchild and Sebastian Stalberg, who were both acquired at the AHL Trade Deadline, will be in St. John’s and are available for tonight’s game.
Tonight’s game can be heard on the Pirates flagship stations WPEI 95.5/95.9 FM as well as WEZR FM 105.5/AM 1240 in the Lewiston/Auburn area and WTME AM 780/1450 in Oxford County. The game can also be heard online at portlandpirates.com by clicking “Listen Live” and can be seen live on AHL Live at ahllive.com. The pregame show starts at 5:40 with Jeff Mannix.
