Bridgeport, CT – The Portland Pirates will return to action for the first time in 8 days as they head to Bridgeport to face the Sound Tigers. Puck drops at 3 PM for the 4th and final meeting between the two teams this year. The Pirates hold a 2-0-0-1 advantage in the season series.
The Pirates last played on Saturday, March 15th, dropping the third game of a three game series against the St. John’s Icecaps in Newfoundland by a 3-2 score. Jordan Szwarz and Brandon Yip were the goal scorers for Portland, while Mark Visentin made 31 saves. The Pirates went 1-2 during their three game series with the icecaps, but set a season high in goals with 7 in their 7-4 win on March 14th.
The Sound Tigers dropped a 2-1 decision to the IceCaps last night in a shootout. Adam Brace scored for the Sound Tigers while Kevin Poulin made 20 saves. Tyler Beskorowany made 36 saves for the IceCaps in the victory.
The last meeting between the Pirates and Sound Tigers was on January 24th, a 4-3 shootout win for Bridgeport. The Pirates have earned a point in every game against the Sound Tigers this season, with Andy Miele tallying 5 points in 3 games to lead the team. Brett Hextall also has three goals against Bridgeport this season, and Louis Domingue has a 2-0 record against Bridgeport, including his first AHL shutout on January 11th.
