Library Arts Series: U2 Can Ukelele

Blue Hill, Maine - Blue Hill Public Library’s monthly series of free Art Adventures for adults and interested teens continues on Thursday, March 27th at 7:00 PM with a program—U2 Can Ukelele-- by local multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Henry Finch.

This workshop will center around demonstrating and encouraging musical exploration with the ukulele. Topics to be covered include tuning, strumming vs. plucking, simple chord progressions, and accompanying yourself while singing. Participants will have the opportunity to play and discuss the differences (if any) between making music, making sounds, and making noise. Ukuleles will be available for playing.

Henry Finch teaches writing and music throughout coastal Maine. He has performed as a soloist and ensemble musician up and down the east coast. He holds a BA in English from Appalachian State University and an MFA in Poetry from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. As a ukulele player, he teaches privately in Blue Hill and plays with the Valley of Stars Ukulele Club in West Brooksville.

The event is free and everyone is welcome.  For more information, call the Library at 374-5515.
