Tending the Perennial Garden in July‏

Camden/Rockport, Maine - Wendy Andresen will present a July installment of her lecture series “Tending the Perennial Garden” at Merryspring Nature center on Tuesday, July 2 at 12:00 noon.

As the perennial garden continues to grow, more work needs to be done. Andresen will demonstrate pruning, thinning, and management methods for the July garden. Emphasis will be placed upon supporting plants as they grow taller and heavier with blooms. As with the rest of this series, this talk will be interactive and will take place outdoors. Gardening items, plants, and Tracy DiSabato-Aust’s book The Well Tended Perennial Garden will be for sale after the presentation.

Participants for this presentation should meet outside at Merryspring’s Hexagon gazebo at noon. Guests are
reminded to wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing to this event.

After owning and managing a garden design and maintenance business in Connecticut, Wendy and her husband Ray moved to Camden in 2006. Wendy currently serves as a volunteer at Merryspring, where she maintains the park's perennial beds.

Admission to this program is free to Merryspring members and children, with a nominal $5 fee for non-members.

This talk is part of the Spring Talk series at Merryspring, sponsored by the First.

Merryspring is a member-supported, non-profit nature education center and park located at the end of Conway Road just off Rt. 1 by the Hannaford shopping plaza in Camden. For more information, call Merryspring at 236-2239 or email info@merryspring.org.
