Blue Hill, Maine - Kids aged 8 to 13 are invited to “dig into cave painting” at the Blue Hill Public Library on Saturday July 6th from 10:30 AM to noon. The dig director will be Frederica Marshall, artist, teacher and experienced archaeological dig artist. She has excavated and worked on prehistoric burial mounds.
Participants will learn about ancient cave art from 35,000 years ago when the first artists used natural pigments and created wonderful animals on the walls of caves. Later they will be cave artists for the morning and paint their own animal art on stones with natural brushes.
Participants should wear old clothes in case they get paint on them! No experience is necessary. The workshop is free but space is limited so registration is required. To register, go to the Library’s web calendar at www.bhpl.net or call Pat at 374-5515.
