Rockport, Maine - Down East Enterprise, Inc. announces the opening of a new office in Portland, Maine and the addition of a new sales rep at Down East: The Magazine of Maine.
The new office, opening March 2013, will be the first Portland office for Down East. Located in the Merrill’s Wharf building, the office will serve as the Portland base for staff working in the southern Maine region. Down East headquarters are located in Rockport, Maine.
“Down East’s expansion to Portland is a very positive step for us – and the loyal readers and companies we do business with,” said Bob Fernald, Publisher of Down East magazine. “We’re excited to become a larger part of the Portland community, while continuing to deliver the most authentic and in-depth coverage of the Pine Tree State. Wherever we may go, Maine will always be our backyard.”
Newly hired Account Executive Chris Plumstead will be based in the Portland office to support sales growth in the southern Maine region. Plumstead, who previously worked for the magazine’s advertising department from 1992-2006, brings decades of experience to his role at Down East.
"Chris brings the right mix of enthusiasm and experience to the magazine, which will help Down East continue its exceptional growth track in 2013," said Tom Giovanniello, Associate Publisher of Down East magazine.
Prior to his new position at Down East, Plumstead oversaw sales, marketing and brand strategies for wine companies throughout Maine. In his role as Wine Sales and Marketing Manager at Tannery Street Wine Company, Plumstead was responsible for company-wide sales revenues and business development. In his role as Wine Sales Manager at Central Distributors, he managed sales for the on-premise and specialty wine division for the entire state of Maine.
