Part of 2008 Boston Celtics’ NBA Championship Team
Portland, Maine - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, yesterday announced that they have acquired former Boston Celtic Gabe Pruitt from the Sioux Falls Skyforce in a trade that will send recently acquired forward James Mays to Sioux Falls.
Pruitt, 26, was a 2007 NBA Draft selection of the Boston Celtics (2nd round, 32nd overall) and appeared in 62 games with the Celtics over two seasons. As a rookie, the 6-4, 185 lb. guard out of USC was a member of the 2008 Celtics’ NBA Championship team, appearing in four playoff games during the team’s championship run.
Pruitt is veteran of five NBA Development League seasons, suiting up for 129 total games for the Utah Flash, Los Angeles D-Fenders and Sioux Falls Skyforce while averaging 10.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. In 34 games with the Skyforce this season, Pruitt has averaged 6.5 ppg and 2.6 rpg.
The Red Claws will play the first game of a five-game homestand this Friday when they host the Erie BayHawks at 7 PM. Great seats remain for the game and may be purchased by calling (207) 210-6655, in person at the Red Claws Team Store located at 413 Congress Street in Portland, or online at www.MaineRedClaws.com.
Maine Red Claws – 2012-13 marks the fourth season for the Maine Red Claws. The Red Claws have been the minor league affiliate of the Boston Celtic since their inaugural season of 2009-10, and 2012-13 marks the first season of a new “hybrid” affiliation between the two teams. Under the hybrid model, the Boston Celtics have contracted to run the basketball operations for the Maine Red Claws, including the hiring and training of the coaching and training staff as well as the all player transactions and will act as the Red Claws’ sole NBA partner. The Red Claws play their home games at the Portland Expo Building. The franchise is owned and operated by Maine Basketball, LLC, which is principally owned by Bill Ryan Sr., the retired chairman of TD Bank, and Bill Ryan Jr. who serves as the team’s President and Chairman.
