Waldoboro, Maine - The Medomak River Community Market (MRCM)-a cooperative market in the heart of Waldoboro Village- will be reopening Friday March 1. Members have spent the last two months cleaning and reorganizing the market for your enjoyment. They have also created a special “nook” to honor Women’s History Month.
The market caries a wide variety of handmade, Maine made products. Just a sampling would include bees wax candles, hand-made soaps, beautiful and practical pottery, cards, photos, jewelry, children’s clothing, hand spun and dyed wools, felted items, stained glass items, and up-cycled building salvage materials.
The market also has a wall of thoughtfully selected used books, penny candy, children’s art supplies, and collectibles-often from or about Maine. During the growing season, a few farmers members drop off their extras- beautiful flowers, tasty garlic, garden grown tomatoes and what not.
Did you know March is Women’s History Month? In honor of this, the Market will provide books and CD’s that explore women’s lives and issues for individuals to browse and/or borrow. Find out about the
“Not so well behaved women that made history.” Donations will be accepted on behalf of New Hope for Women, a local organization working to end domestic violence .
The market is still looking to round out their selection of products so if you are an artist or crafter looking for a place to sell product- come on in and check us out. We would be happy to discuss your options. Would you like to volunteer in the store? Or help out with a special project like building a float for the Waldoboro parade? Perhaps offer some gardening help to spruce up the area around the store? Business management or marketing advice is always valued! By helping the market, you are helping rebuild the vibrancy of downtown Waldoboro. We are looking forward to continuing to serve our community in 2013 and look forward to your participation- contact us at medomakrivercm@gmail.com.
