Land Trust volunteers will open Beech Nut, the historic stone house at the summit, and provide guests with information about the history and management of the preserve. This is the last in a series of open houses held at Beech Nut from spring to fall. Open houses will resume next May.
Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of western Penobscot Bay. To date, it has protected over 9,100 acres in the region for their natural, scenic and public recreation resources. They own and manage Beech Hill Preserve and completed restoration of the historic building from its foundation to its sod roof in November of 2007.
