Wachowiak Earns ECAC Player of the Week Award

STANDISH, Maine – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) weekly regional honors have been released and Saint Joseph’s College senior Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) has been selected as the ECAC DIII New England Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and fourth of her career.
 
Wachowiak posted 42 kills with a 4.2 kills per set average and a .394 hitting percentage in three victories last week. The three-year captain also posted 21 total blocks and registered 59 points over the three wins combined. Wachowiak netted 14 kills in a 3-0 win over UNE on Thursday and contributed 28 kills in a tri-match sweep over GNAC-rival Simmons College and Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday.

 
With a GNAC Tournament Semifinal loss to Johnson & Wales earlier this evening, Wachowiak capped a fantastic season as the conference leader in kills (416), kills per set (3.62), block solos (80), total blocks (128), blocks per set (1.11), points 520) and points per set (4.5) and also ranks fourth in hitting percentage (.337) and total attacks (899).

 
Wachowiak shattered the Monks’ career kills (1,353), kills per set (3.08), total attacks (3180), attack percentage (.277), solo blocks (291), block assists (173), total blocks (464) and blocks per set (1.05). She also set new single-season records for kills, kills per set and attack percentage this fall.

 
Saint Joseph’s capped the 2015 campaign with a 27-6 overall record, including an 8-3 mark in conference play, under the watch of sixth-year Head Coach Yamile Nolan. The Monks opened the season with 15-consecutive victories, the longest winning streak in team history, and shattered the program’s single-season winning percentage with an .818 mark this fall. With the thrilling five-set GNAC quarterfinal win, the 2015 squad tied the team’s season victories record, as the 1995 Monks also won 27 matches.
