Jen Blood's Latest Novel Thomaston Public Library Reading

Thomaston, Maine - Please join the Thomaston Public Library for a reading from Jen Blood's latest novel on Monday, November 16th at 7pm, upstairs in room 200!

Jen will be reading from Midnight Lullaby, a prequel to her bestselling, now-complete Erin Solomon pentalogy. The novel takes place during the summer of 2000, when reporter Daniel "Diggs" Diggins tries to revive his flagging career by investigating the bizarre ritual murder of a Sudanese refugee in Portland. The story becomes personal for him when a young girl he's befriended is targeted by the same killer, and Diggs himself falls victim to a curse that brings to terrifying light the ghosts of his own past.

In writing this latest novel, Jen did extensive research into the lives and experiences of African refugees in Maine, and her hope is that she's succeeded in bringing some of that insight into the story. Told from Diggs' perspective, this book is also notable because it marks the first evolution of Diggs' and Solomon's relationship, from longstanding friendship to something much more complicated. A psychological thriller with elements of romance and the paranormal, Midnight Lullaby is perfect for adult audiences, but is not suitable for young children.
