Eagles face Keene State in the First Round of the 2015 NCAA DIII Field Hockey Championship

BANGOR, Maine – Coming off their second-straight North Atlantic Conference championship, the Husson field hockey team will travel to Keene, N.H. to face the Little East Conference champions the Owls of Keene State College for a NCAA DIII Field Hockey Championship First Round contest on Wednesday. The game time will be announced at a later time.

The Eagles (8-9) are led by their senior co-captains Kayla Royer and Britt Mellor. Royer and Mellor were named to the 2015 NAC All-Conference team. Mellor is tied for third on the team with four goals and tallied one assist for nine points in seventeen games played. Royer anchored a Eagle defense that only allowed 2.4 goals a game. She leds the team in defevensive saves with seven.

Sophomore Taylor Shaw has been the most-potent offensive weapon for the Eagles. The All-NAC Tournament forward ranks first on the team with 20 points on ten goals which eight of those goals coming in the last two games for Husson while classmate Mikayla Toth who was named the NAC Tournament MVP and to the NAC All-Conference team leads the team with seven assists.

In net, Kaitlin Dolloff and Anne Marie Provencal have shared the duties on the season. Provencal leads the team in saves (63), shutouts (2) and minutes (605:08) with a 2.54 goals against avg. while Dolloff who leads the team in wins (5), save percentage (.742) and goals against avg (2.27).

Keene State (16-7) is led by Sami Smith who leads the team with 24 goals and six assists for 54 points. Kayla Renaud is second with eight goals and ten assists for 26 points while Erica Stauffer rounds out the top three point scorers for the Owls with eights and five assists for 21 points.
Meaghan Dwyer has a record of 15-7 in the net, with a 1.47 goals against average and .745 save percentage.

Husson averaged 2.5 goals per game on 16.6 shots per contest while the Owls averaged 2.8 goals on 17.9 shots per contest while only allowing 1.39 goals per game.

The winner plays at #1 Bowdoin in the next round on Saturday, November 14.
