Camden Hills Cinderella Opens Tonight, Friday November 7th

Rockport, Maine - After three nights of auditions, the cast of this year’s CHRHS fall musical: Cinderella has been announced.  Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella holds the unusual distinction of being their only musical that was written for a TV audience.  In 1957 Julie Andrews starred as Cinderella, and in 1965 Lesley Ann Warren played the role – both movies were hits with TV audiences.  The score was revised in 1997 with the Fairy Godmother role becoming more developed and the addition of some duets such as “The Sweetest Sounds.”  In 2013 Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella finally opened on Broadway.  With updated dialogue and the addition of some new duets, the show went on to be nominated for a variety of Tony awards and won the 2013 Tony for Best Costume Design and many 2013 Drama Desk Awards.

The CHRHS musical is directed by Kim Murphy with assistance by Hillary Gaudio and Kathleen Jarrell and choreography by Gretchen Henderson.  Rick Ash, technical director, leads a talented group of students who are busy designing and building sets.  Student musicians Tyler Bilodeau and Colby Arau will join joani mitchell, Pit Orchestra director and many adult musicians in the pit.  The 46 member cast will be costumed by director Mary Wells with the help of students Savannah Berryman-Moore and Hope Orsmond. Community member, Terri Ralston will oversee a team of hair and make-up students and the creation of fascinating wigs.

The show will run Nov. 7,8,14,15 at 7:00 PM and Nov. 9th at 2:00 PM.  Tickets started being available in early October through stromtickets.com or by contacting stromtickets@gmail.com.  For more information, call 236 – 7800 ext. 282.
