Highway Preservation Work in Northern Aroostook County

Crews will be performing crack sealing operations on specific roads throughout northern Aroostook County beginning on Monday, June 16th.

Temporary travel lane closures are anticipated during daylight hours Monday through Saturday. Traffic will be maintained during working hours by way of alternating one-way travel through the work zones. Work zones will be delineated as necessary with cones and other traffic control devices and maintained by flaggers.

Due to cracking of the existing pavement, a crack sealer will be used to prevent water from penetrating the surface pavement and give the roads a longer life span.

The locations are as follows:

Caribou: Route 164 beginning approximately 0.37 miles south of Wilbur Avenue and extending southerly
1.64 miles to the intersection of Route 164 and Route 1.

Fort Fairfield: Route 161 beginning approximately 0.99 miles south of the Caribou/Fort Fairfield town line extending northerly 1.82 miles to approximately 0.73 miles north of the intersection of Route 161 and Main Siding Road.

Fort Fairfield: Route 161 beginning approximately 0.62 miles northerly of the Route 161/Hopkins Road intersection extending northwesterly 1.01 miles to approximately 0.38 miles north of the Route 161/Green Ridge Road intersection.

Presque Isle: Beginning at the intersection of Conant Road and Route 10 extending easterly 3.74 miles to 0.02 miles westerly of the intersection of Conant Road and Station Road.

Cross Lake: Beginning 0.57 miles north of the T17-R4 town line extending northwesterly 5.23 miles to a point 0.31 of a mile north of the Ouellette Road.

Castle Hill: Route 163 beginning approximately 0.12 miles west of the T11-R4 WELS/Castle Hill

Nashville/Portage: Route 11 beginning approximately 2.23 miles northerly of the Ashland/Nashville Plantation town line extending northerly 3.94 miles to approximately 0.95 miles north of the Nashville Plantation/Portage Lake town line.
