Sweet Peas Family Consignment to Relocate, Expand

Rockland, Maine - Sweet Peas, a family consignment store specializing in baby and youth clothes is relocating and expanding its sales line. According to Owner, Laurie Campbell, our business has been doing fabulously and this new location will allow us to better serve our current customers, our consignors, and new customers.” The new store will be at 229 Park Street at the intersection of Park and Payne Avenue. The new store is expected to open in mid to late June. Formerly named “Lil Sweet Peas, “we are dropping the ‘Lil’ because we are not so little anymore!

Campbell purchased the business that has been in operation as a children's consignment store since the 1980's at the corner of Union and Willow Streets in 2013. Since her purchase, she and her fiancé Josh Boyer have made significant improvements, gained new consignors, and expanded the selection. In the new
location, we will offer a more complete family-oriented store including mens' clothes, plus sizes, maternity, and furniture and household items. The new store will offer more convenient drive up drop off for consignors. Customers can also participate in a rental program for children’s cribs, strollers, and other products. Campbell intends to also start a new program called Operation Community Contribution that will help support local charitable organizations as a part of the business, allowing consignors to designate a portion of their consignment to a local charity of their choice.

A grand re-opening and ribbon cutting will be held when the new location is opened.

Campbell's current location is available for lease for retail or commercial space. Rockland's Community Development Director John Holden suggested that the current site is a good location for a small retail operation. "There is a lot of new activity in Downtown, with nearly 100% occupancy along Main Street," according to Holden. "We continue to field a number of inquiries from entrepreneurs and existing business seeking new locations."
