Technically speaking, audiences will enjoy a smooth cocktail of theatrical elements: a lovely set and delightful period costumes and props, infused with artistic lighting - perfect elements for this top notch cast, led by the well intentioned, murdering spinster duo, Suzanne Rankin and Nancy Durgin.
Capturing the essence of comic schtick, “Arsenic & Old Lace” whips up a lethally funny blend of intellectual, verbal and physical humor (think TV era comedians Lucy Arnez, Dick Van Dyke and Carol Burnett). Madcap, zany and fast-paced – it’s seriously funny.
Begin with an enduring, classic comedy, mix it with the lightness of springtime and the universal human desire for laughter, and serve it up with Heartwood’s serious approach to a tightly wrapped
finished production … what better way to spend an evening in May.
Making this show possible are: Bath Savings Institution, Heartwood’s Season Sponsor; Granite Hill Estates, Season Productions Sponsor; and Show Sponsors – Hook Yarn and Stitcher of Hallowell, Cheney Insurance and Newcastle Square Realty.
Performances will run for two weekends in the Parker Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy. Evening performances beginning at 7:30pm will be presented May 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10.
