Thursday, May 8

Dr. Lowell Gerber presents “Is Dementia Preventable?” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome. Gerber is a cardiologist and specialist in the physiology of exercise, nutrition, and metabolism.


Saturday, May 10

TLC Day in Camden Harbor Park and Amphitheatre. Join Dave Jackson for the annual spring cleanup, bring hand tools and gloves and meet in the Amphitheatre at 9:00 for a couple of hours of fun and volunteer work sprucing up the Park and Amphitheatre.


Monday, May 12

Michael Keating will present “Understanding Natural Sleep Rhythms and How They Affect Our Health” at the monthly Wellness Brown Bag Lunch, 12:00 noon at the Camden Public Library, co-sponsored by the library and PenBay Regional Chamber of Commerce.


Tuesday, May 13

Regular meeting of the Tuesday Book Group, 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome, call 470-7473 FMI.

Regular meeting of the Camden Philosophical Society, 4:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome. The reading for this month is selected from Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s Sense and Non-Sense: “The Battle Over Existentialism” and “The Metaphysical In Man.”

Camden Public Library hosts an “Introduction to Gardening” at 7:00 pm with Merryspring’s Garden Manager Cindy Gerry. Part of the “Let’s Get Growing” series at the Library.


Thursday, May 15

“Tick Talk” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. May is Lyme Disease Awareness month, and the Library will again host Lyme disease specialist Dr. Bea Szantyr, with an informative look at ticks, the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi which causes Lyme disease, the incidence of Lyme disease in Maine, the difficulties of medical diagnosis, and steps you can take to protect yourself and your family.


Saturday, May 17

Spring Book Sale, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, with gardening books, cookbooks, sailing books, DVDs and CDs, biographies, history books, how-to books, and plenty of fiction. The book sales benefit the library, and are run by library volunteers. Come support the library and pick up some book treasures!


Sunday, May 18

Spring Book Sale continues, 1:00 to 4:00 pm, at the Camden Public Library. All the book sales benefit the library.


Tuesday, May 20

Songwriters Session, 6:00 pm in the Picker Room at the Camden Public Library, in preparation for the Coffeehouse on June 5. Call Ken Gross at the library for more information.


Thursday, May 22

“Gulf of Maine Vital Signs,” a field research program that includes Maine’s 7th and 8th grade students, organized by the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. Presented by Dee Kopesky, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.
