AUGUSTA, Maine – Lithgow Public Library’s second pie sale of the year, held on International Pi Day, March 14, was even bigger and better than the previous pie sale in January. More than 50 pies were made and donated by staff and community members, raising more than $1,400 for the Friends of Lithgow Library’s Capital Campaign to renovate and expand the historic building.
“It was wonderful to see such a groundswell of support for Lithgow Library from the community, Augusta businesses, patrons and staff,” said Lithgow Director Elizabeth Pohl. “People came together that day to buy a pie or two and share a piece of the bright future of Lithgow Library.”
Along with community members and library staff who baked pies for the sale, the Friends of Lithgow Library thank the Downtown Diner and the Red Barn in Augusta, Lakeside Orchard in Manchester, and Caprara’s Food Service Equipment in Winthrop for their generous donations.
Proceeds from the two pie sales have raised more than $2,300 for the library’s Capital Campaign.
Lithgow Library is located at 45 Winthrop Street in Augusta. For more information, call the library at 626-2415 or visit www.lithgow.lib.me.us.
