Developing Weather News: Winter Storm Watch for Knox & Coastal Waldo Counties/Blizzard Watch for Far Downeast Maine

...AN INTENSE WINTER STORM WILL BRUSH THE REGION LATE TUESDAY
NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY...

.A RAPIDLY INTENSIFYING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL PASS WELL EAST
OF CAPE COD TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY. DESPITE THE TRACK OF THE
STORM BEING WELL OFFSHORE...SNOW WILL ROTATE AROUND THE SYSTEM
AND INTO THE MAINE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE COASTLINE. SEVERAL INCHES OF
SNOW MAY ACCUMULATE IN THE MIDCOAST REGION WHICH WILL BE CLOSEST
TO THE STORM. THEREFORE...A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR
SOUTHERN WALDO AND KNOX COUNTIES.

STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THIS SYSTEM...CAUSING BLOWING
AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW ON WEDNESDAY. VISIBILITIES MAY BE REDUCED TO
LESS A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.

WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 6 INCHES OR MORE IS
  POSSIBLE.

* TIMING...MAINLY DURING THE DAY WEDNESDAY.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW WITH CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

* WINDS...NORTH 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE MID 20S.

* VISIBILITIES...OCCASIONALLY ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS.

WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH
WEDNESDAY EVENING. THE WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

* LOCATIONS...COASTAL AND CENTRAL WASHINGTON COUNTY.

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND
  DRIFTING SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 6 TO 10 INCHES. SNOW DRIFTS
  SEVERAL FEET DEEP ARE POSSIBLE.

* TIMING...VERY LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW WITH CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW
  COULD LEAD TO BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES. ROADS COULD BECOME
  IMPASSABLE.

* WINDS...NORTH 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 55 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE TEENS TUESDAY NIGHT RISING INTO THE UPPER 20S
  WEDNESDAY.

* VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS WITH WHITE-OUT
  CONDITIONS AT TIMES.

A BLIZZARD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FALLING AND/OR
BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND EXTREMELY POOR VISIBILITIES.
THIS CAN LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AND MAKE TRAVEL VERY
